Who am I ? // vegetarian, travel, thoughts

Hello World,

Who am I?

I recently visited a exhibition at the science museum in London about who you are and what makes you you in the biological way, they showed us how our brain works, why we sleep and much more of what I couldn’t all take in. As you know if you really read my blog, I was vegan for a little over a month. At first I was trying it out for a month but after I’ve done 1 week I was sure I wouldn’t go back. But after a little over a month I went back to being vegetarian. I am a full vegetarian now, I don’t eat meat nor fish. I am really thinking about the efficiency of being vegan or vegetarian. To make one thing clear, I am in no way going back to eating animals (I can safely say that after 3 years now), but living vegan wasn’t doing much good to me. I ate massive portions and wasn’t quite satisfied (also in combination of that fruit eating, less fat, etc.) and I lost interest in food, because I spent so much time about what I’d want to eat next and what is vegan and all the people I’ve talked to, we were always talking about veganism. No other theme, I didn’t like it any more, I wasn’t feeling happy and I simply saw, that you can’t get enough nutrients without those vitamins and if you think you can (some can, of course, I don’t think I can) and yo keep on like you do and then get tested in one year or more and then you discover issues it is simply too late. The last thing I want to stress on is that you miss out on so much food, you really do, so I broke that veganism trip in London. Now I want to do vegan days or week(s), my food spectrum only enriched, but I can’t do it always.

I learned very much about my body the last few weeks, if I don’t move enough I need to run, if I eat too much fat (german food from grandma) I need to slow down and eat green again, if there are too many people on one spot I need to get away, if I don’t feel happy I need to eat and sleep and I have to make what I want, meet people, travel. And crisps and sweets really don’t bring that much satisfaction, right?

Who are you?

Bavarian Pretzels

Hello World,

I recreated another recipe from Love&Lemons and it turned out perfectly, I don’t get how this bavarian recipe by them is so easy, vegan (cruelty-free) and yummy to make when they aren’t even from Germany. I have, like 99% of the children in Munich, grown up with Pretzles “Brezn” and I couldn’t imagine a life without them. No meat, yes, no fish, okay,no diary, well okay, but no pretzels ? Definite No. And I am baking them for the very first time in me life, well yolo. Can’t believe I am using this word in the last weeks quite often… where have I gone to?

My Tips for being in germany/munich: trie various different bakeries, because even here not every pretzel is good. They must be in a good shape, have the golden brown color, cross on the outside, but soft on the inside, it’s a complete world in my eyes, haha.

With this recipe, you should eat them straight away, don’t even wait 1-2 hours, because (maybe I’ve not baked them enough) when I took them out, they were cross, but after 2 hours there were lovely soft, but not cross anymore. And leave away the sweetener in this recipe, it shall not taste sweet in the first place, so no maple syrup (and for me no agave nectar!).

Enough ramble, here is the recipe and enjoy the photos. What is life without pretzels?

Here are my ideas of with what to eat them (vegetarian mostly)

Vegan Raspberry-Brownies

neu brownie

Hello World,

this vegan (ugh-mazing) raspberry brownie in the shape of a teddy I made for me brothers birthday, so that I wouldn’t feel left out. Yup I loved them, maybe you should use more sweetener for kids, as they usually like it as sweeter as possible…

Th Recipe is adapted from Love & Lemons (again!), click here for the original recipe.

  • 1¼ cups spelt flour (or blend of white/wheat)
  • ¾ cup agave syrup (I used the rest of my maple syrup, too, so about 2/4 agave nectar and 1/4 maple syrup)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup almond milk (I used oat milk, again)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil (I used vegan butter -> magarine, again)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • about 5 handful of frozen raspberries

Mix the wet ingredients, mix the dry ingredients, mix together. Oil your form and fill your cupcakes (form) halfway up, add in a few raspberries (preference) and cover with more dough. Bake for 15-18 minutes at 325 degrees. These are best if you under bake them slightly (since there’s not very much oil in the recipe). I didn’t use the icing, because I don’t like icing, that’s just me…

I hope you like this inspiration and let me know what your favorite type of cake is!

Vegan Carrot cake {+frosting}

Hello World,

this week my exchange student from Italy (I sadly don’t speak italian, long story) is at my house, so I wanted to bake a cake for her arrival. Since I am now vegan, it is difficult to find good baking recipes, this one by the recommends of the lovely Madeline *clickforherblog* sounded really nice, so I tried it.

I have never been a great supporter of the carrot cake thing, but I craved it since I saw the photos on the blog Love&Lemons *clickforrecipe*

As so often we don’t get everything that is required for a recipe at the supermarket or we don’t have the money to use tons of expensive coconut oil or we simply don’t like it, so I swapped the…

  • baking soda with 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • almond milk with oat milk
  • coconut oil with vegan butter
  • macadamia nuts with Para nuts

This cake was the third (!) vegan cake I’ve ever eaten and by far the best. The first one was great too, but the second one too flour-ly, but let me tell you, this recipe is the best! Easy to make (yes it takes some time, but well you gotta’ give somefin’), nice (easy to get at your local supermarket) ingredients, spongy texture with loads of moisture and a result that can be given to total contra-vegans such as my other/stepdad. I have done some in cupcake forms and tried them before my exchange student arrived, and they tasted even better, because I have had m u c h dough so my cake was big and therefore the inner part didn’t bake through (should have left it in for 20 more minutes!) so next time I trie them in cupcakes. I would also add in more carrots, about 1 or even 2 cups, because it didn’t taste too much like carrots and for me I could even use less sugar (makin’ it “healthier”). Test n’ taste!

Have you ever tasted/baked vegan cake, etc. ?

Muesli with Peach Kiwi and Banana

1 peach (flat one), 1 Kiwi, 1 Banana, Muesli (I used mixed fruit/seeds muesli {vegan}), plant-based milk (I used oat milk), flax seeds

Just mix everything together and enjoy!

Rice with Zucchini, Aubergine, Spring Onion and Peas

Cooked rice (I used leftover rice, that I heated up in the microwave), ca. 1/3 Aubergine (washed, cut), ca. 1/3 Zucchini (washed, cut), 1 Spring Onion (washed, cut), 1 can of peas (rinsed and washed), salt/pepper, {optional} I had some tomato-kidney bean-sauce leftovers (just mix some tomato sauce with kidney beans, add salt, pepper and enjoy for anything you want)

Heat up a non-stick pan and add the sliced Aubergine and Zucchini and brat/cook until it’s done, you can add salt and pepper and some oil if you want, but for me I like to let it out a bit. Add everything together, season if necessary and enjoy.

I had two of those bowls. 😉

Salad with Tomato, Spring Onion and Dressing

Salad (This was Lollo, washed and chopped in big chunks), 1-2 tomatoes (washed, cut), 1 Spring Onion (washed, cut), olive oil, ace to balsamic, (double the amount of both olive oil and balsamic vinegar together) water, salt/pepper, ca. 1 Tablespoon agave nectar

For the Dressing mic the Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar together, add the water so that it is not double the amount. Add salt, pepper, agave nectar and mix again. Arrange the Salad and our over the Dressing. Enjoy with some Tortillas and Dips!

I had two of those plates plus a bunch more Tortillas!

1 pack of Wrap Tortillas (my wraps were with white flour)

Preheat the oven to 160 grad Celsius. Cut the Wraps (all at once, laying on top of each other) in thick strikes, about 5 cm wide and then cut them into these little triangles (not too difficult, really!). Lay everything (can be on top of each other!) on 1-2 baking trays (no oil) and put them in the oven for around 15 min on 160 grad celsius, checking every 5 min. Mix after 10 min in the oven and put it back in for 5 or more minutes. They turned out crispy, light and just amazing!

Great way to use more than 3 day old open wraps!

V e g a n | my story & reasons

DSC_0030_2Hello World,

a l l  a b o u t  m y  v e g a n i s m

First of all, please do not hate on any lifestyle one is living, as long as it’s their right ideology and they aren’t starving themselves to death, it’s their own life.

Personally for me that also counts for animals as beings on this earth, I do not support the killing and eating of animals. I have my reasons, I live totally heathy (in a medical way) and here are the my story and reasons for living a vegan lifestyle.

All my recipes on this blog are vegetarian, feel free to click on the ‘food’ section on the menue and get inspired for that one. now, that I am living a vegan lifestyle, I feel better when eating than ever, so there will be only vegan recipes in the future on this blog!

I have been a vegetarian for nearly 2 years now (2 years in September) and I am feeling grand. For me it was a all or nothing situation, my father and stepmother have been vegetarian before, but I was too young to know exactly why and to stress enough about it, truth is I loved eating meat etc. , then my friend became vegetarian, too, and finally I opened my eyes, to the crucial meat industry. And so I became vegetarian, at first my friend recommended me to take it slow, eat meat once or twice a week and leave more and more, but after one week no meat whatsoever, I ate a baked chicken and felt so bad afterwards. It wasn’t guilt, it was illness, my stomach turned, and at that moment I did not touch meat any more. I have to say I maybe once or twice ate a meat thing you put on your pretzels, it is named “Teewurst”, but it wasn’t as great as I had it in my mind and so that was probably one and a half years ago.

I am (now) a vegan because I cannot let it happen, that animals get killed; in extremely harmful ways without any love and under full consciousness. They get treated like shit, from birth to death. The conditions are horrible, you aren’t doing anything right, when you buy meat or any product made by or of animals, you are only supporting slaughterhouses and those who are selling it. Killers, who like to kill and who use you. I won’t let that happen any more with me, I am a full vegan. If you do not believe me, please watch the movie “Earthlings”, I forced myself to watch every minute, and if after you’ve watched it, you still think it’s okay to buy this meat, buy your pets at breeders, buy leather jackets and use medicaments tested on millions of animals (if you don’t really need it or can avoid it), then, God, there’s is no hope for you.

I am thinking that it doesn’t make any difference if you buy ‘organic’ meat from happy pigs or whatever, the animals don’t want to be killed, they don’t want to live a fourth of a lifetime they could be living (milk cows), they want to be free, as free as you are, as free as anyone wants to be. We are all Earthlings. Since I am now vegan and get questions and comments like ‘I don’t want to limit myself.’ or ‘You won’t get enough Protein!’ , ‘What about the iron, calcium,…?’, my diet has changed, but I wouldn’t call it a diet, it is a lifestyle. My aim isn’t to find thousands of substitutes for the (already) gross Snickers etc. I am living a healthy lifestyle. Biased in fruits, beans, lupines, rice, spelt corn (pasta, bread,…) and much more, you can get all that from plant based food. Not to mention all the medicines the animals get to be ‘fit’ against diseases, gain weight and who do you actually think, they have so much minerals etc. ? Through those medicines, be realistic! I have always been very interested in several so called ‘healthy lifestyles’ in order to gain health, fitness, a lean body, confidence, awakens (sleepy…) and happiness. The Lifestyles I am currently reading and learning about are the ‘Rawtill4’/’HighCarbLowFat’, ‘StarchSolution’ and many more. I find it amazing, that there are people, happy, healthy people, only eating fruits and ‘raw’ food until 4 pm, but eat as much they want and have amazing bodies out of that. Or so they say.

The third ‘section’ for me is the environmental reasons, growing the animals on those big bid feed lots takes up so much land, where there could be planted several different (!) veggies, corn, fruits and much more. Not to mention the space where the food the animals have to eat (massive amounts!), that is wasted, not to start with the water they consume in comparison to normal any growing!

I am still educating in all these three sections, so be kind of it is ‘t enough evidence.

I hope you are interested in more political themes, as for me this is my blog and I’m going to blog whatever the shit I want. (Bare with me, these are hard times I am living in!)

Are you vegan? Or vegetarian? If not, why are you eating meat?

Herzlichst, Taykure.

Hello World,

After a nice holiday in Croatia and a very stressful first week of school with my favorite subject on 24h replay; chemistry (sarcasm); I am back with news.

I will change, I am changing every day, every hour and every second, I can feel my body changing, I can feel my mind changing, I can feel my interests and even friends changing, everything’s rebuilding itself every moment. And so after the shittiest Friday in week, God has hope, I have decided to go vegan for a month. From yesterday on for 31 days will I cut away and meat and fish (as before) and now in addition to that milk, anything that is made of it, f.ex. jog hurt, cheese, etc. ; eggs and honey.

I will try to use up the products for beauty that I use, which still have, which have animal ingredients in them, but I will be having and wearing my leather boots (docs, etc), because there is no point in giving them away now. What I will not support any more is products with animal ingredients or that are made of animals even.

My reasons are mostly ethnically, they’ve summed up my mind in months and now is the point, where I cannot and will not ignore them any more. On Thursday I have red a article about a  so called farm in Germany where the ‘produced’ eggs have had a samonallae scanal. Therefore all the chicken had to be killed, chicken who lived in square boxes of 4×4 meters, 60 of them in each. There where two halls, each filled with about 1600, if I can remember right, now thanks your time and calculate the amount of unnecessary deaths on that very day(s).

That’s just one of thousand problems on this planed right now, but I will try this, without pressure for a month, a month of rebellion. And you will follow me in this month, if you want to or if you don’t.

I think this blog will change soon, because I am changing, and that’s good, but I need to figure out, what is for trash and what is important. Need to get them hormones under control, teenage truth.

Herzlichst, Taykure.
