Bavarian Pretzels

DSC_0397n

Hello World,

I recreated another recipe from Love&Lemons and it turned out perfectly, I don’t get how this bavarian recipe by them is so easy, vegan (cruelty-free) and yummy to make when they aren’t even from Germany. I have, like 99% of the children in Munich, grown up with Pretzles “Brezn” and I couldn’t imagine a life without them. No meat, yes, no fish, okay,no diary, well okay, but no pretzels ? Definite No. And I am baking them for the very first time in me life, well yolo. Can’t believe I am using this word in the last weeks quite often… where have I gone to?

My Tips for being in germany/munich: trie various different bakeries, because even here not every pretzel is good. They must be in a good shape, have the golden brown color, cross on the outside, but soft on the inside, it’s a complete world in my eyes, haha.

With this recipe, you should eat them straight away, don’t even wait 1-2 hours, because (maybe I’ve not baked them enough) when I took them out, they were cross, but after 2 hours there were lovely soft, but not cross anymore. And leave away the sweetener in this recipe, it shall not taste sweet in the first place, so no maple syrup (and for me no agave nectar!).

Enough ramble, here is the recipe and enjoy the photos. What is life without pretzels?

Here are my ideas of with what to eat them (vegetarian mostly)

Nuremberg, Germany

Nürnberg9

Hello World

yass, another travel post, well I din’t like Nuremberg too much, I have to admit (I edited the photos in another white square thing, so that it would look hipster). That’s probably because of the heat on that day (let me tell you, I am no good in too much heat) and the kind of bad planning. Anyways, I went there with my exchange student and the rest of the group (very looking forward to going to Italy in Feburaray!) and we wandered around, even because of me on the hill, at least we had a great view. As always, look for my comments under the pictures and enjoy, maybe you would have a better time there, eating aways the real “Nürnberger Rostbratwurst” and “Lebkuchen” (ginger bread) with all the other german food! Have fun! What is your favorite german city?

I liked the “evangelische” church even tough I am not religious, looks so beaut like Harry Potter.

Vegan Raspberry-Brownies

neu brownie

Hello World,

this vegan (ugh-mazing) raspberry brownie in the shape of a teddy I made for me brothers birthday, so that I wouldn’t feel left out. Yup I loved them, maybe you should use more sweetener for kids, as they usually like it as sweeter as possible…

Th Recipe is adapted from Love & Lemons (again!), click here for the original recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1¼ cups spelt flour (or blend of white/wheat)
  • ¾ cup agave syrup (I used the rest of my maple syrup, too, so about 2/4 agave nectar and 1/4 maple syrup)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup almond milk (I used oat milk, again)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil (I used vegan butter -> magarine, again)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • about 5 handful of frozen raspberries

Mix the wet ingredients, mix the dry ingredients, mix together. Oil your form and fill your cupcakes (form) halfway up, add in a few raspberries (preference) and cover with more dough. Bake for 15-18 minutes at 325 degrees. These are best if you under bake them slightly (since there’s not very much oil in the recipe). I didn’t use the icing, because I don’t like icing, that’s just me…

I hope you like this inspiration and let me know what your favorite type of cake is!

As you’re reading this, I am in London, so here’s a peek inside my suitcase plus my very-own list (in german) written on me typewriter. I am trying to pack as less as I can, because, well I will be in a shopping-heaven, right? At leastI hope so. What do you like to bring on your trips?

Extremely Loud and incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer + Favorites

Hello World,

this is actually supposed to be another Book Wrap-up, finally, I am sorry I haven’t done one last month, but I hadn’t red anything and I wasn’t in the mood to make a favorites neither, but back I am in the game. It has just been 1 books this time, but you know, holidays are here and I’m gonna have a full month of things to do, and I’m packing some favorites in here too.

Extremely Loud and incredibly close by Jonathan Safran Foer

Yeah, one book of my Wishlist #3 done!

Description: “In a vase in a closet, a couple of years after his father died in 9/11, nine-year-old Oskar discovers a key . . .The key belonged to his father, he’s sure of that. But which of New York’s 162 million locks does it open?So begins a quest that takes Oskar – inventor, letter-writer and amateur detective – across New York’s five boroughs and into the jumbled lives of friends, relatives and complete strangers. He gets heavy boots, he gives himself little bruises and he inches ever nearer to the heart of a family mystery that stretches back fifty years. But will it take him any closer to, or even further from, his lost father?”

This book is a true little patch of emotions, that will bring everyone through a phase of thinking, either when reading it or when having finished it. This boy is so well written, the stories, thoughts and advent ours are so scurril, still so haunting. I loved the writing style of the author, the changes between time and persons are quite irritating at first, but to me all made sense while going further into the plot. It is a bit like a maze/adventure for the boy and so you feel when reading from the past and the present. Not only does this book contain multiple facts I did not know but loved to read about, but it did also entertain with pictures forming in your head of beautiful packed apartments and sights in New York. Coming to my last point, it’s New York babe, it’s worth it! Go n’ read.

Favorites:

London, if you can’t tell, hell. :))

Holidays, another point checked off my Wishlist #3, haha.

I have been really thinking about the vegan, vegetarian hype and I am not sure if I think about it all, than how I thought about it a month ago, because I am not feeling very good. Yup I’ve said it and yup, I know animals are dying (I am not a person who closes they eyes again) but I’ve talked to really nice people who told me how much milk the animals they have give and for how long. I am loving vegan food, but i am not feeling good anymore either, so yeah. Thinking again. You always have to find your way, for now I am staying vegan, but I am not sure I can make it that strictly. I actually want fall, yup that is weird. I have love painting, doodling this month and I will be happy to do all that all summer now.

I had a week of work at a beautiful restaurant as a cook, but in this temperature I was even more tired than I already always am, just look at the pictures my great friend Kathi took of me. We had a good after-work (for me) chat and exchanged some thoughts, which was nice. I also tried some vegan jellies she had left, they were really sweet, but not that bad for being vegan!

We firstly shot at the Gasteig, but after wandering around chatting away, she saw the sunlight hitting the spot perfectly, so we have it another go, I only like the pictures of myself in those, haha. It was still too hot, even after changing in this beautiful jumpsuit! Now we have fall weather and it’s my last week of school before the real summer holidays, see ya!
